I worked 9 years as Senior Vice President of Economic Development at the Greater Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. During this time I had the opportunity to work directly with 3 Mayors of Knoxville Testerman, Tyree and Ashe. Then Bill was elected Mayor and I have been mosted with his leadership and creative approach to government and his service to the people of Knoxville. I have also had the opportunity to serve in government as a member of the Cabinet. As Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development I saw first hand many of the issues that are facing state government today. What our state faces is more than making additional cuts in a budget, the issues now are a complete restructuring of state government with a focus on the true services that are the responsibilities of the state.
